PoleTrack Mobile^®

 

What is it?

PoleTrack Mobile^® is the integrated software application used to collect and view your pole data in the field.  There are two versions - PoleTrack Mobile for Pocket PC^® and PoleTrack Mobile for Tablet or laptop PC.

 

PoleTrack Mobile for Pocket PC^®

This version of the inspection software runs on the Microsoft Windows Mobile^® operating system, used by many inexpensive hand-held units.  PoleTrack Mobile^® is a fully-certified "Designed for Windows Mobile™" software application, meaning it has been field tested for reliability and proper architecture by Microsoft.

 

PoleTrack Mobile for Tablet PC^®

PoleTrack is also designed to run on tablet PCs and laptops in the field.  Both the tablet and Pocket PC versions of PoleTrack Mobile contain a complete database of all field facilities.  Tablet PCs, which are larger and more expensive, have expanded mapping and viewing capabilities.

 

What does it do?

PoleTrack Mobile allows you to view and enter the following types of information for poles and underground facilities:

• Inventory assigned to pole or facility

• Inspections by type (detailed facilities inspection, public safety, etc.)

• Past inspections and inventories, and their findings

• Safety / NESC and bootleg attachment violations

• Authorized attachments

• Pole / facility location (GPS coordinates, street address and township/section/range)

• Pole tests and treatments

• Vegetation management work

Mapping and GPS

PoleTrack is designed to integrate with your utility's GIS system, or to stand on its own. PoleTrack integrates with Microsoft MapPoint^® and Virtual Earth.  For more information, please visit the PoleTrack mapping page.

 

A portable GPS unit can be added to your Pocket PC to allow you to identify your current location on the map and collect GPS coordinates for your facilities.  The GPS unit can also answer the question, "where am I now?"  PoleTrack^® can use sub-meter accuracy GPS data collection units or less expensive units.

 

Standards Documents &

Engineering Designs

PoleTrack Mobile^® can also be used to view standardized engineering designs and schematics in the field. The Pocket PC pictured contains a complete set of RUS specifications and guidelines for poles and underground facilities.

 

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support

PoleTrack Mobile^® takes advantage of wireless communications protocols to eliminate inconvenient and easily-damaged connectors and cables. Many Pocket PCs and tablets now come equipped with both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless communication transmitter/receivers.  When in range, you can synchronize the PoleTrack Mobile database with the main database.

 

Digital Photos and Videos

PoleTrack incorporates digital photo and video technology to document violations, pole inventories, before/after conditions, damage to company property, etc.
