Technologies
PoleTrack® is designed to
accommodate functional and technological upgrades with
minimal impact to the user. Where possible, we utilize
existing Microsoft® tools. This approach minimizes the
overall cost of the system, allows us to offer extensive
features.

Architecture –
PoleTrack was designed by Microsoft certified developers
in a normalized, object-oriented architecture. The
system is extremely stable and scalable for utilities of
all sizes.
User Interface –
PoleTrack’s user interface was developed for Microsoft’s
Active Server Pages.net (ASP.net), to run on a standard
Internet browser.
Reports – PoleTrack’s
reports can be exported as PDFs or Excel spreadsheets.
Geographic data can also be reported via MapPoint.
Database – The
PoleTrack database is built to run on Microsoft SQL
Server 2000/2005. The PoleTrack database has a relatively
small footprint, and places a low processing demand on
the server. PoleTrack can easily co-exist on a server
with other databases, and does not require a dedicated
server.
Internet Server –
PoleTrack’s ASP web pages run on
Microsoft’s Internet Information Server (IIS). IIS can be hosted on the same server that houses
the SQL Server database, or it can be hosted on an
existing Intranet web server.
Because PoleTrack is a browser-based
application, deployment and upgrades are extremely
simple and quick (i.e., "one-touch" deployment).
Mapping –
PoleTrack®
includes a complimentary copy of Microsoft
MapPoint®, which is used to create geographic positioning
maps for various pole data from the database. This is a
single user seat license. Additional copies of MapPoint
can be purchased from Microsoft.
Pocket PC – PoleTrack
Mobile®
Pocket PC Edition runs on the Microsoft SQL Server CE
database, running on the Windows Mobile operating
system.
Tablet PC –
PoleTrack Mobile®
Tablet PC Edition runs on tablets and laptops using SQL
Express®
2005, a free version of SQL Server®.
Security -
Security for PoleTrack® and PoleTrack Mobile®
is controlled from the central database. Read/write/view
access and security roles are created and controlled
easily by a non-technical administrator.
Interfaces
PoleTrack® can
run as a standalone application, but it is also designed
to integrate with a utility's core software
applications, such as GIS, finance/AP, work management
or inventory/warehouse management. Please
contact us to discuss
PoleTrack®
integration for your utility.
